This is a very light tandem bicycle with an Aluminum Frame with a Titanium Stoker Boom and a Carbon Fiber Fork. Our bathroom scale shows that it weighs just 35 pounds which is impressive for a tandem. Most builds on this frame which is no longer available have the handle bars lower but my wife and I are older and more comfortable in a more upright position. This can be changed very easily. I will assist you if that is what is desired.
Currently the bike is set up for a 5'9" captain and a 5'4" stoker. The head tube on the threadless fork has not been cut down, so the bike could easily accommodate a much taller captain. If the buyer wants I will cut down the headtube on the fork and mount the bars lower. The titanium stoker tube also gives a great deal of adjustment both back and forth along with the normal up and down plane so it too can accommodate stokers who are significantly taller or shorter than how we currently have it set up. My wife has issues with her neck, so we have upright bars. We will swap these out if desired.
One of the reasons for the titanium stoker boom is to utilize the flexibility of titanium to give the stoker a much more comfortable ride which is often a problem for stokers on traditional tandem frames. The avocet women's seat mounted on the boom is the only type of seat that my wife will ride on. It was being used on another tandem bicycle before we set this one up.
The frame and fork and most of the components have only about 200 miles on them. The only parts that are used are the seat and the crank arms which both came from a Santana Tandem that we owned previously, the chain rings and bottom brackets are new. The Shimano Deore rear derailleur and front derailleur, chains, cogs, and Shimano 105 STI shifters are new. The Phil Wood tandem wheels and the tires are new.
This is a very light and fast Tandem bicycle. It has a comfortable ride especially for the stoker. It is currently set up for two older rider's comfort but can easily be set up for a pair of younger more aggressive riders. We have put very few miles on it. Hopefully the pictures will answer most of your questions, if not please give me a call, text or email. We are just trying to get part of our money back. Other than department store bikes you can't even buy an entry level tandem for this price. The wheels alone on this bike cost us over $600.
